Dad's and Donut Day

Emma's preschool had Dad's and Donuts today.

To say Emma was excited would totally be an understatement!

Boy, she was excited!

They have been learning special "Daddy" songs to sing to their dads and she couldn't wait to sing them to Lee.

She told me today that she had to wear special "Dads and donut colors" to school.

Apparently they are blue, yellow, and white. She said it would be okay to have pink on her shirt but not daddy's. Funny girl!

And when Lee came home, he was sporting a snappy new tie...

He also received a questionaire that Emma filled out for him.

For some reason my scanner's not working so I'll just type it.

This just cracked me up!

My daddy is 22 years old.

He weighs 4 lbs. and is 10 feet tall.

His hair is black

(I thought it was kind that she didn't say bald!)

and his eyes are blue.

He loves to cook noodle tacos.

(Huh?)

My dad loves to relax by sleeping.

His favorite household chore is the kitchen.

(I can only wish that was true!)

His favorite TV show is Football.

(He never watches football.)

He loves to wear suits.

His favorite song is any rock and roll songs.

Daddy always tells me I LOVE YOU!!!

It makes him happy when we go to the park.

When my dad shops, he loves to buy flowers.

(Really? I can't remember the last time he bought flowers.)

If he could go on a trip, he would go to Idaho and he would take Mommy.

(Doesn't everybody!)

I really love it when my dad hugs me.

He's the best! I love you Dad!

The Garden

What? Two Posts in One Day?

I've been a blog slacker and I realized last night that I never blogged about Scott's big day last Friday.

Scott is now the Big 16!

Yes girls, he's now eligible to date.

And yes people, he will be driving very soon.

Well, we tried to carry on the tradition in our home and threw Scott a surprise party.

I kind of blew it though. I sent invites out over Facebook (thinking I was so cool) but as it turned out, many didn't receive them. So only 3 of his friends were able to come but it was still fun. :)

He was surprised even though Emma spilled the beans at dinner that night. Luckily he didn't catch it. And he didn't fall for it when Elisabeth "accidentally" honked the horn when she drove up with him. (Smooth Elisabeth!)

Elisabeth planned some fun games...

We had yogurt pie instead of cake (Scott's favorite)....

It was fun to see him having fun with his friends...

They spent the rest of the night playing "night games" outside till midnight.

Considering Scott's cool mom blew it on the invitation thing,

I think Scott had fun and that's all that's important.

Fun Solution to a Sad Spring Break

Yesterday, Max cried on my shoulder,

"This isn't a fun Spring Break!"

He wasn't being a spoiled kid,

it really hasn't been for him.

Poor Max. He's been sick on top of the awful weather.

Solution for this....

Add a tent!

After scarfing down two bowls of bananas and whipped cream,

He and Emma watched "The Tale of Despereux" from the tent and camped out.

Fun times!

This morning, I woke up to this...

I love that they can entertain themselves now!

I think camping indoors may be even more fun than the real thing!

(And it's good to see happy faces again!)

This Will Have to Do For Now...

Here's our "ghetto" family portrait...

(She had nothing to do with setting the picture up. She just pushed the button on the camera so none of the ghettoness can be blamed on her. Thanks Clarinis!)

I particularly like the chain link fence, my AWFUL hair, Max's expression (Jake said he looked like a pioneer boy getting his portrait taken), how Cole, Lee, Scott, and I are all the same height, that Jake looks like he's going to pounce and the t-shirt lying in the grass (of course)!

So classy.

At first I tried the timer on the camera but got this...

and then this...

Funny thing is, I thought I was in these pictures when I thought the camera went off.

I need to learn to use my camera already!

(and maybe plant some flowery bushes or something. Geeze!)

Oh well, someday I'll get a good picture of the family...

In the meantime,

this will have to do.

But, this is, by far, my favorite picture of the day...

April Fool Cutie

Yesterday, Emma got to go over to her Aunt Mary's house to play.

(Thanks again Mary!)

She somehow convinced everyone her birthday was the day before when really, it's not until May.

When we were leaving, Mary said,

"I hope you had a fun birthday yesterday. Sorry I forgot."

I was all confused and said, "No, her birthday's not until May." and I looked at Emma.

She had the funniest little grin on her face and I just had to laugh.

Everyone was laughing and she said,

"April Fools!"

And then started to get embarrassed and almost cried because that's just what she does these days.
