Let's Go Fly A Kite!

It was a typical spring day.
First it was beautiful, sunny, and warm when I said,
"We should fly kites today!"
Then, by the time we could actually go and we drove across town to find some kites,
the weather turned blustery.
That's spring for ya!

But, that didn't stop us...

It was cold.
It was windy.
It was FUN.
It was priceless.

Just An Average Day...

I know you're wondering,
"What's it like at the Houghton's dinner table?"

Well, I'll end your agony...

First off, Max always eats his meat but it's near impossible to get him to eat vegetables.
Except once he did eat fresh green beans which was a miracle.

Emma barely eats anything at dinner.
Maybe if she wasn't distracted by brothers...
(Nice cabinet door open and milk jugs on the counter huh?
Man, those Houghton's are some classy people.)

This guy hardly gets to eat dinner with us because of work so I won't get on him for the sunglasses today. Besides, he is too cool anyway!

And speaking of cool...
Sometimes I just have to say, "Whatever!"

Here's what he looked like earlier...
He came in from playing football with a goose egg on his forehead so I told him to put ice on it.
The headbands were his idea.
I'm so glad they are good for something!
(By the way, these two are no longer for sale.)

My First Try at Repurposing Clothing

Emma has gone through a major growth spurt.
All of her clothes are too short.
I was about to give a bunch of clothes away but was inspired by Disney from Ruffles and Stuff.
So, I thought I'd give repurposing a try.

I combined a purple striped long sleeved t-shirt that was about 2 inches too short for her but fit her everywhere else with a flowered t-shirt skirt that was too tight and came up with this...

Wallah!

It's not perfect but I think it turned out kinda cute.

Add a pair of leggings and I think it'll be a cute little outfit.

Can't wait to try it again with some of her other clothes!

Too Busy to Blog?

Yeah.
Things have been nuts around here. (or have I?)
I don't know anymore!
Sorry it's been so long since I've updated.

Let me get you up to date with what's been going on in the Houghton household.

For starters,
look who won 2nd place in the Utah DECA competition...

This is his "sincere" smile.

Then I insisted he do a serious picture and I got this right as I pushed the button...I was getting really irritated so he gave in and smiled nice...
Anyway,
we are very proud of Scott!
He won 2nd place in the Written Business Plan competition. He had to come up with a business idea, research it, develop a budget, write a business plan, and present it at the competition. He worked so hard and I'm so thankful that he did so well!
Because he came in 2nd place, he gets to go to the International competition next month in Louisville, Kentucky.
Pretty awesome!
Way to go Scott!

Apparently Emma has developed an edgy side...
***
Max has been playing Jr. Jazz basketball.
It's amazing the improvement he's made this year!
He loves basketball and
it's so fun to watch him play.
Here's some pictures of him in action...
(He's blue #13)***
Cole was on the Provo High Winter track team.
He ran in a few indoor track meets and really enjoyed it.
He's just started the Spring track team and found out that he's quite the javelin thrower!
His first meet is in a couple weeks and
I can't wait to see him in action!
Here's a couple pictures I found on my camera.
I always love finding pictures of my kids AND my messy house!
Please ignore the mess in the background.Fierce.
:)
***
Beth's moved on to the fourth grade for her second part of her student teaching experience.
She is absolutely loving it!
I just know she'll be a great teacher.
I love hearing about her experiences everyday.
I'm so thankful she's home!
I know the children she's taught love having her as their teacher.
She's still getting cute little notes from the little second graders even when she's not teaching them anymore.
A sign of how much she is loved for sure!
***
Jake's doing well.
He doesn't call home but he's doing well.
(Yeah, I'm gonna ring his neck if he doesn't write on his mission!!!!)
He's been busy with school, which is what he's supposed to be doing.
He did take a short trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico last weekend.
He's on the Ultimate Frisbee team for the UofU.
(I know. I didn't know they had one either!)
This isn't actually a picture of Jake, but this is what ultimate frisbee looks like...It's kinda like soccer with a frisbee.
It's a good release for him and he really enjoys it.

Lee and I have been developing a little business idea we've had.
More on that later.

Hopefully I'll update more often.
No promises though.
Sorry.
