Neverending, I Tell You...

Well, the cleaning continues. I was on a roll last week but then I got sick and the cleaning ceased for a few days. So, the neverending task of going through all the family clutter and crap continues. I have made some progress see...

This is what I have so far for a garage sale that will most likely take place this Saturday. I know, it looks like a bunch of crap but there is actually some good stuff in there that we just don't have the room for. I still need to go through Lee's clothes, the books, my kitchen and Elisabeth is still going through her clothes. Lots more to do! So, off I go to spend more time with clutter. I'm tackling the garage today. Hopefully I won't get lost in all the junk! Wish me luck!
Have a great week!

Up to My Ears!

No blogging for me this week.
I am up to my ears in clutter and I've reached my limit.
I NEED SOME SPACE!!!
I can't take it anymore so I'll be cleaning house this week.
I may have a garage sale on Saturday but most likely I'll be taking many trips to D.I.
I may even rent a dumpster.

Anyhoo, have a great week and
don't be too envious
of my fun week.

Cute and Inexpensive Gift

Emma was invited to her first "friend birthday party" last Saturday. I can't believe how fast she is growing up!
*sigh*
Anyway...I was so pleased with how her gift turned out that I wanted to share it. It was cute and inexpensive (just under $10!)
I made this cute little apron...

and put it in a small bowl with miniture cooking tools, cookie cutters and a couple cans of Playdough.

This little birthday girl likes to help her mommy in the kitchen (just like Emma) so I thought this would be perfect for her.
It was a hit and that made me so happy!

Lullaby to a Doll

Here, for you viewing entertainment, is Emma performing her dance she did at the Cousin's Camp Talent Show on Wednesday. I didn't have my camera there so this is her doing it at home.

Enjoy!

Make My Day!.

I got a totally unexpected, yummy surprise today!

A couple of weeks ago, I got a call at 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning from our ward organist. She was ill and not able to make it to church that day and wanted to know if I could play the organ for Sacrament Meeting. I said I'd do it and it was all good.

*Side note-- I don't really know how to play the organ correctly. I play it like a piano and I turn the foot pedals off. I don't think most people can tell. In fact, I shocked my husband the last time I played. He had no idea I could play the organ. It's fun being a fake sometimes!*

Well, it all went well this time. I didn't accidently push the "trumpet" button like I did the last time I had played. (It's always nice to have a little comedy relief in Sacrament Meeting sometimes!) It was actually kind of fun.

Anyway, while I was cooking dinner tonight, I heard a knock at the door and there was our organist with a yummy, still warm loaf of Chocolate Chip Bread (yes, it tasted as good as it sounds!!!!) to say thanks for playing for her.

How nice was that!?!

I know you don't perform service for any recognition but it is really nice when others show appreciation sometimes!

Thanks for making my day Rebecca! How nice of you to think of me and to actually bake something in this heat!!! It was so delicious! You were right...it did taste good with butter!

There's nothing like the 4th of July in Provo!

It's one of the reasons we love living here.
I mean, where else could you be greeted by Chewbacca... And enjoy a good Irish jig all in one day?

We had a great 4th!

After the post-parade naps, we headed over to Cristina and Jonathan's beautiful house for the Annual Houghton Family 4th of July Bash.
We barbequed burgers and had summer salads and corn on the cob.
(Does anything say July more than corn on the cob?)
I, of course, ate too much! It was so delicious!

For dessert #1 Cristina made a yummy Strawberry Shortcake cake.

It was too good for words!

Thanks to Papa and "the boys" (who took a trip up north ) we didn't just do fireworks...We had a

Firework Spectacular!

This is just a small sampling of what we had. This picture was taken well into the show!It was NUTS!

The boys really got into this!
It was great fun for all!

It lasted so long that our ears were ringing!
We were joking that next year we need to put it to music!
Who needs the Stadium of Fire when you have Papa and "the boys"?
They were shooting fireworks for over two hours!
It was crazy fun!
Emma had enough but it was lots of fun!
After the Fireworks Spectacular, we came in for dessert #2, Root Beer Floats.
It was a great time!
Thanks Cristina and Jonathan for another great party!
Until next year...
