If I Have to Go to Work, At Least I Have a Fun Job

I realized today that I pretty much have the best of both worlds.

Yes, I have to leave my home to work, but I'm still with my kids (for the most part) and I'm there when they need me.  It's pretty awesome!

Is it easy to go to work every day?  No, but if I have to go to work, at least I'm close to my babies. (They'll always be my babies!)  But that's not the only thing I like about my job. 

 Here's ten reasons I'm loving it at AE Elementary:

1)  I get to see Emma and Max off an on throughout my day and they come and help me after school.

2)  I get to go into their classrooms and see how they interact with their teachers and classmates.

3)  I get to work with some really awesome people.

4)  I get to start my days by singing the National Anthem and saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

5)  I get to embarrass my son when he's goofing off in class.

6)  I get random hugs from all kinds of cute kids all day long.

7)  I get to see the excitement when a child finally "gets it" and reads his first book all by himself.

8)  I get to be there to see the excitement when Max and Emma realize they did well on their weekly tests on the computer.

9)  I get to eat lunch in the cafeteria with Emma and her classmates.
 (That's an experience!)

10)  I get to have a cute Kindergarten boy tell me that he likes reading with me because
 I smell like cinnamon rolls!

Yeah, I've got a pretty sweet job!

Cool.

Cole is a member of HOSA (Health Occupations Student Association) and he and his friends have made this cool movie (a public service announcement) for the state competition this week. 

 It's a public service announcement to encourage everyone to get outside and enjoy the sun.  They were faced with the challenge of the weather not cooperating when they filmed so they ended up making a stop-motion film which turned out really cool.  

Well done PHS HOSA!

They placed 3rd in state!  
Off to Anaheim, California in June for Internationals.  
Way to go!!!!

Priceless.

Last year for Christmas we drew names for presents in our family.

The rules were that you were supposed to make a present for the person you drew.

The kids really took this seriously and I loved it!

Jake, in particular, spent a lot of time on his gift to Emma.

He wrote a priceless book of poems just for her.

Not only did he write the poems (there was about five of them), but he also illustrated them with water colored pictures and hand sewed them together for the binding.

It is seriously the most precious thing you've ever seen!  

Every one of the poems are written especially for Emma.

The one titled "Big Brother" is a tear-jerker and I know he wouldn't want me to share the whole thing but here's the illustration that went along with it and a little snippet...

"No matter where you go

No matter what you do

Just know that if you mess up

Your brother's there for you.

He won't always be right by your side

But no matter where he is

He's always thinking about how much

He loves his little sis."

Jake, Emma's blessed to have you in her life!

It's Not Every Day You Find a Picture of Your Son Doing a Handstand in the Middle of I-15

This was on his way to the Utah State DECA competition while stopped for a traffic accident. 

(Which, by the way,  Scott took 1st place in one of his categories and 4th in the other and now gets to go to Orlando next month to compete in the International competition, but I'm not bragging!)

He was telling us that his advisor gave him a hard time because of all the oil on the road and thought he'd get all dirty.
 What did Scott say about that....

"I told him, 'Whatever!  It's on my Bucketlist!"

Life's never dull with Scott around.
