Month of Thanks -- Day 5

Just some thoughts...

I'm thankful the election is over.
I'm not sure if I'm thankful for our President-elect just yet.
I'm just not convinced of his abilities.
For some reason I don't feel safe.
I can't explain it.
But, America will make it through whatever.
I'm afraid this is going to be a rough next few years.
But then it would have been regardless of whoever was elected.
Good speeches were made last night and it was definitely a historical night.
It's sad that Obama's grandmother couldn't live to see him be elected.
That is really sad to me.
I'm also disappointed in our local election results.
And I'm really puzzled how Super Dell got over 25,000 votes?
I don't get some people.

***
I'm also thankful for our new elementary school.
I was there at the beginning of school today (Max was late today. Don't ask.) and the very first thing, the Star Spangled Banner plays over the the entire school.
Classes stand, children sing, everything stops and respect is shown to our great country.
How grateful I am that at least one of my children has this opportunity daily!
Max, Emma, and I stopped in the hall along with a few other adults and children.
Everyone stood with their hands over their hearts.
I looked inside a Kindergarten class and all the small children stood with their hands over their hearts singing as best they could and I couldn't help but get tears in my eyes.

I am worried and a little scared but
America is strong and we'll make it.

i love how you do this in november! it always makes me so much more of what i have to be thankful for, so thanks for the inspiration! i could simply say a huge "ditto" to everything you said here. it is a scary time. it just feels different for some reason. but it doesn't make me love this country any less and we'll get through anything, hopefully!

I'm with ya. I'm nervous and I would be no matter who would have won. I wasn't a big fan of either to tell you the truth. But, this is the promised land so that means we should be alright, right?
