From Bike Trailer to Broken Bones

There once was a cute little bike trailer.

After the child it carried grew too big

(And apparently so big that she can't even watch Backyardigans anymore--only shows like iCarly. That's what she tells me but anyway...)

it was collecting dust in the garage.

So these kids

turned the cute little trailer into this new trailer to pull their golf clubs to the golf course.

I failed to inform by boys that it is only to be used to transport golf clubs and not people.
Because, you know, I have to spell things out apparently.

Well on Wednesday, Max came running in with a huge bump on his head and all scraped up looking like this...

His scrapes were starting to heal and he started feeling better when on Thursday

he fell off our chain link fence and
broke his wrist.
Of course he did!

This happened while I was picking up Jake.
I was gone like 5 minutes tops and we get a phone call saying Max broke his wrist.
We hurried home and Elisabeth had his wrist propped up with ice and Emma was rubbing his head for comfort (so cute!).
Then Jake made him a splint out of plastic mixing spoons and an ace bandage.
Meanwhile, I was running around with a piece of fabric saying, "I can make a sling! Yeah, a sling!" but I don't want to talk about that!
Luckily, I have level-headed children!
Anyway, we made it to the emergency room and he got x-rayed that looks like this

and found out he has two Buckle Fractures.

Now he looks like this.

I'm just glad it wasn't worse.
He should heal up nicely and in the meantime
he's milking it for all it's worth
but that's okay.

wow he has great "what did you do this summer" stories to tell! I laughed so hard about you and the fabric! I would have been doing the same thing...I hate stressful situations when someone gets hurt. I hope all is well with him.

Poor Max! Hope he gets feeling better soon. I had to laugh at Emma being too old to watch the Backyardigans. WHen she was at our house Ryley asked her if she wanted to watch Max and RUby, she said, "no, I'm too big to watch those shows!" I thought it was so funny. But it didn't take much convincing, once it was on she was hooked!! :)

...and let me guess, he's right handed?? Is he going to start school with his wrist in a cast? So sorry...hope he heals well!!

And yet he lives to tell the tale...the fact that he's smiling in the end tells me that it wasn't truly life threatening.

Glad to hear he survived.

Cast at the end of the summer. So unfair! (I suppose it's better than at the beginning of summer, no?)
