I was sewing upstairs yesterday afternoon when I heard Emma yell out,
"Jake!"
I'm thinking,
"What?"
Then I heard the familiar deep,
"Hey."
I was so surprised!
Jake was home.
Apparently he couldn't wait any longer for me to bring him the things he left at home so he took the bus down yesterday. (I don't blame him. Things have been a little crazy.)
It was really fun having him home even if it was only for a couple hours.
He played Wii with Emma and Max (who was home sick yesterday).
They really enjoyed seeing their big brother and
I think Jake enjoyed it too!
I have to say, at first I was really worried about Jake going to the U and living on his own. I thought he would struggle on his own but,
I'm happy to say,
he's proved me wrong!
He is doing great.
He's enjoying his classes and working hard.
He's involved in his ward and goes to Institute.
He's also in the Freshman Service Corps where he's been involved in many service projects around Salt Lake City.
In fact, he was just in the Deseret News for volunteering on Martin Luther King Day.
Pretty cool huh?
Even though he's been helping many, it's obvious how good it is for him.
He's really happy!
What more could a Mom want for her son?

This is Jake dancing with an elderly lady (in a Farrah wig!) at a Christmas party at a retirement home they had with the Freshman Service Corps.
What a gentleman!

Here's the picture from the Deseret News.
Just look at his expression!
I love it!
The FSC delivered food for the Utah Food Bank.
Pretty awesome!
