I am so frustrated with Albertson's lately. In my immediate neighborhood, there is no grocery store. There was supposed to be one built right up the street but apparently some city council member turned the community against it and so we just have a vacant lot. Not real helpful guys! We have to go over the freeway and then the closest stores are the old Reams and Albertsons. Well, I can't handle Reams. I get the heepie-geebies just walking into it so if I need to grab something, Albertson's is my option (unless I want to drive over to Smith's which is just like Albertson's. "Fresh Value" my foot!). Well, this past year, I have noticed a gradual increase in prices there. Now, oh my gosh! $1.89 for the "crappy" bread! Everything has gone up and they are the KINGS of trickery! "Buy one Get one Free" and "we'll just jack the price up so that the stupid consumers think they're getting a buy!" It drives me crazy! And then to top it all off, they only have one checker! The rest are those stupid "self checkout" places!
So, they charge outrageous prices and then we get to bag our own groceries.
What the heck is that!?!
What happened to the friendly neighborhood grocery checkout lady. I'm so sick of it! I know I should just say bye-bye to them but since I rarely get to do my grocery shopping all at once (due to being paid on a commission-only basis and I never know when the money will be there) I have to drive across town and waste gas just to pay somewhat decent prices for food. Albertson's is just taking advantage of the fact that they are the only "clean" grocery store in the area. It just drives me crazy.
I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening!

Cari, oh I know! Albey's has been a many blog discussion. My fav is this one.
you should go to maceys! its way better!
Okay a different perspective. If you go to Albertsons for ...let's say cheese. You know they will have the cheese you want, the color you want, the variety you want, and roughly the quantity you want. I on the other hand here in Malaysia would kill for an Albertsons. We get Australian or New Zealand Dairy, at astronomical prices. And the cheese is not suited for the American palate. So we spend all week scouring the Island for the right cheese. Then we have to purchase it from some person of questionable cleanliness and pray that while he/she is cutting it off the block for you that he/she won't sneeze or pick thier nose. Prices be damned, Albertson's is "just my store".
Cindy- I guess I should count my blessings instead of complaining! Thanks for letting me see that! Good luck on your grocery endeavors!
