Okay. So I had a job interview early this morning.
(6:30a.m. because it's for a part-time graveyard shift)
Since I know first impressions are important,
I tried really hard to look my best.
I think I succeeded in looking professional.
But we all know looking professional and acting professional are two different things.
When I got there I was greeted by a very perky HR man.
He escorts me into a conference room where I meet the manager to whom I will hopefully be working for.
All is going well.
I think initially I made a good impression.
That is until I sat down and
broke the chair!!!
Yes folks, I broke the chair.
I didn't sit down all the way so I didn't fall on my butt (thank heavens!) but the freakin' chair broke!
I'm sure I was as red as my red power sweater.
So much for first impressions.
What do you think my chances of getting the job are?

i think you'll get the job---at least you didn't start crying, now that would have been embarrassing! just think---as time passes you can laugh about it and plus it's happened to everyone!
Oh Cari! That is quite embarrassing. Although, I'm sure you were still able to dazzle them with your whit and charm. If they don't hire you, it will be their loss.
I am sure the chair had been previously broken...and they didn't know about it. Come on, I don't think you did it all on your own. Just for that...(if for no other reason) they should give you the job...who knows maybe that was a test of how you handle stressful situations!!!
This past summer I was sitting out front in a lawn chair that we'd just purchased at a garage sale. Ry was out of town so i was just out hanging out with the kids. Next thing you know, the chair breaks and my butt's stuck between the bars of the seat and my feet are straight up in the air, with the whole world driving by... lovely. I feel your pain :). Hope you get the job!
You've got to be kidding...Get out right now...You did NOT break a chair. Seriously, I can't believe that happened. Anyway, good luck with the job...maybe they will over look the slight mishap.
And sorry that I laughed at that so hard I was crying. (It was kinda funny)
Maybe it was some machiavellian interview test - something Microsoft would dream up (some day remind me and I'll tell you about my Microsoft interviews - seriously).
Best of luck, and come on - they're the ones who should feel bad, and if by some chance they don't see your brilliance, then you can always hit 'em with a lawsuit.
P.S. my word verification is "consol" - and the point of my comment is to console. Coincidence?
wishing you lots of luck on the job. look at the bright side -- they will definitely remember you and that's a good thing! no, but in all seriousness, who wouldn't hire you?! don't you HATE when embarrassing things happen? but really, THEY should be embarrassed, not you!
I think you should at least impress them with everything else about you. Don't fret! It will work out just fine.
Bottoms Up! AAAUUUGahhhh!
