Lee and I grew up in the same stake in Southern California.
My earliest memory of him was when our stake was building a new stake center and the members were asked to help with the landscaping.
I was helping my dad pull wire for the outside lighting when I looked over at a huge manurer pile. All these little boys were rolling down it and totally playing in it.
I was really grossed out by that!
Little did I know that I would marry one of those gross little boys! :)
I knew who Lee was growing up but he was in the "cool" group and I was the quiet shy girl.
It wasn't until I became friends with his sister and she convinced me to write him on his mission that he noticed me.
We wrote to each other for about seven months towards the end of his mission.
I knew once I saw him when he got home that he was going to be my husband.
(And apparently he knew while he was still on his mission.)
We dated for two months, got engaged, and were married five months later.
Hey, when you know, you know! :)
Now, twenty-two years later,
I still know.
He is the best.
Truly.
I always knew there were things about him and things he's done that have been great but, especially in the past few weeks, I'm finding out even more amazing things about him that make me love and appreciate him even more.
One, for example, is a couple of weeks ago my adorable nephew contracted Meningitis. He wasn't expected to live but, thank heavens, he did! He's doing better than can be expected but one of the side effects of Meningitis is hearing loss and my nephew is now deaf. To make a long story short (and because I don't want to give too much info) my nephew is doing great and is a good candidate for implants so he will hear again. (Another one of those miracles I said have happened this year!) Anyway, when Lee found out that his nephew lost his hearing, and before he knew about the implants, he immediately went online began learning sign language because it was killing him to think he wouldn't be able to communicate with one of his nephews.
Is that not sweet?
I mean, really?
With all that's going on in his life right now (and those of you that know us know how much Lee has on his plate), he took the time to do this.
Yes, that's the kind of guy Lee is.
I could go on and on, because I do have a list of amazing things Lee has done, but I won't embarrass him. He really doesn't like people to know the good things he does.
Just know that my husband is awesome!
I am so incredibly thankful that I get to be his wife.
I just thought I loved him twenty-two years ago.
He continues to surprise me with his awesomeness!
If you don't want to take my word for it,
check out the great things his sister said about him...
Yes, today (and forever), I am thankful for Lee.
