Music Memories

Last night was our Relief Society Birthday Dinner.
For our closing song we sang, "Love at Home".
I didn't have a hymn book close by but I remembered all three verses.
I find that I can remember all the verses of many hymns.
I got thinking of this because it's not like I sit around memorizing the hymn book.
I came to the conclusion that it is thanks to my dad.
My dad loves to sing.
I think he secretly wishes he was in the Tabernacle Choir.
Even though that wasn't his call in this life, he still enjoys singing.
The highlight of his singing career was when he was asked to sing a duet of "Sunrise, Sunset" for my little sister's New Beginnings program.  I think this made him really happy.
(Secretly, I was so proud of him!)
And Christmas Eve can't be Christmas Eve without having him sing "White Christmas" in his best Bing Crosby voice.

Here's Dad singing "White Christmas" with Craig, Family Christmas Party 2007.

He always sang to us while I was growing up.
I learned all kinds of songs.
How many kids know "Five Foot Two, Eyes are Blue..." and "Tip toe Through the Tulips"?
I did!
We learned all the verses to "Love at Home" during Family Home Evening.
We almost always sang it for FHE.
Many times, while I was practicing the piano, he would come up, hymn book in hand, and ask me to play a hymn while he sang.
Some kids might of thought this annoying but I loved it!
I think that's how I learned so many hymns.
Anyway, I was thinking of this today.
My dad is awesome and I love him so much!
I just wanted to thank my dad for instilling the love of music in my life!
