While the Cats Away the Mice Will Play...

Okay, my husband has been gone since Monday on a Scout hiking trip with our two oldest boys. I have to admit that I don't really like it when he's gone a whole week on these excursions. I know it's his calling and I'm glad he's there with my boys but I don't like being left for a week.
There's always some kind of minor fiasco that occurs.
Like one year, "someone" forgot to pay the electric bill before he left and the power was turned off! (nice.)
Another time, I'm driving home from my parents house at the point of the mountain with all my kids and had a blowout because I was driving on bald tires that "someone" said would be just fine and would last at least another month. (oh, the joy.)
Well, this time, I've had to do some major "creative accounting" with the checkbook because a closing he had on a house that was supposed to close last Friday hasn't closed yet so his check isn't here yet. No closing = no money. (I'm sure "someone's" not going to like the choices I made but hey, "someone's" not here to help make those choices.)
To try to forget about it all, I've completely forgot about answering the phone and just have been relaxing as if I'm on vacation this week. We've been creative and have had a great time. I think Cole is in heaven because bedtime is non-existent this week! We've been eating "crap food" (the things that "someone" doesn't like when I cook for dinner because he doesn't believe they're "dinner worthy".) like tacos and jumping meat (meat over rice). Basically playing during the day and catching up on all those Gilmore Girl episodes we never got to watch all night (thank you AdreAnn for loaning us the dvd's!). Beth had a sleepover with her friends for her birthday (first time ever because we normally don't allow sleepovers) and I took the 3 younger kids to stay at my inlaws house for a night. Cole and Max spent last night at their cousin's house so we had a girls night at home! We went shopping at the mall and Beth spent her birthday money on the cutest dress, came home and ate tacos, leftover cheese cake, salt and vinegar potato chips, and imaginary "birthday cake" Emma made for us while watching a night of Gilmore Girls and laughing our heads off. Today we're going to spend the day at my mom's and all the cousins on that side for the first Cousin's Camp this year.
So, I guess you could say...
while the cat's away the mice will play!
**********
I know I "talk a big talk" but when it's all said and done and the house is quiet at night and I can't sleep,
I realize that I really miss my "someone" and also my oldest boys!
I really hate not having my family together!
What am I going to do when Beth leaves for college!
I'm going to need my "someone" even more and I'm glad that scout camp is only a week and that I know he'll be back Saturday and all will be well again.
I guess these little trips are good in a way because they help me realize just how much
I love my guy!
It's just really hard because normally we'll call eachother throughout the day while he's at work and this week I've had no contact with him at all.
I really miss him!
